This past Fourth of July weekend, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend two special events separated by 3000 miles, simultaneously. How is this possible, you might ask? The magic of the modern world.

While sitting on beach chairs in Siesta Key, Florida, we watched the amazing display of fireworks up and down the coast of the Gulf of Mexico - from Venice to Longboat Key. At the same time, we watched good friends of ours get married amongst the picturesque hills that line the Napa Valley of California. Utilizing a computer tablet, web conferencing software, and a (reliable) Internet connection, friends and family from coast to coast, were able to watch and participate in their special ceremony. For us, we got a chance to watch them take their vows, while fireworks were exploding overhead. It was even a little more fun, because our friends have a home in Sarasota, FL., so it was as if the whole county was celebrating their betrothal.
