Happy Holidays
|
As we come into the holiday season with Thanksgiving just behind us, I am always touched by the many acts of kindness that I see exhibited at this time of year. It truly is the season to reflect and be thankful for all that we have and to remember those that may be less fortunate.
I caught the Sterile Processing staff at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois in the middle of one of these kind deeds. I walked into the department just as they were putting the final touches on a Thanksgiving gift basket for a deserving family. The Pastoral Care department of the hospital sponsors this event. The SPD staff all gladly pitched in with one non-perishable food item and one dollar towards a gift card to purchase a turkey for the meal. The staff then wrapped all the fixings up into a beautiful basket which made it look extra special for the recipient. (I knew they would be good at the wrapping) Ha! Ha!
May you have a joyous holiday season and I hope everyone gets "caught" in the act!
