CS/SP Professionals Making a Difference
|
This week is dedicated to the people around the world who process medical devices. These departments go by different names around the world. For instance, in Canada these professionals are known as Medical Device Reprocessors (MDR), in the United States as Central Service/Sterile Processing Professionals (CS/SP) and in Europe and elsewhere as Central Sterile Service Departments (CSSD). I would like to take the time during this digest issue to thank all of the Processing Professionals for their dedication and efforts to make the healthcare industry a better and safer place.
Over the past year, we have seen recent outbreaks with CRE and other life-threatening contaminants that have tragically demonstrated the importance of proper reprocessing of surgical instruments. Patient safety in healthcare facilities begins in these departments. Cleaning, disinfection/sterilization and verification is very demanding, especially with increasing high volumes of surgeries performed. We here at Healthmark appreciate your dedication and efforts to ensure infection control is the highest priority. Happy Sterile Processing Week!
