Upcoming Pre-Show Endoscopy Reprocessing Workshop at IAHCSMM

In case you haven't heard the good news, IAHCSMM will be offering an educational and hands-on workshop focused on endoscopy reprocessing best practices at this year's conference. This workshop will be offered as a pre-conference option at the national IAHCSMM meeting and will be held on Saturday, April 23rd in San Antonio, Texas. There will be two sessions available, with both the morning and the afternoon session offering the same content.

To begin the program, renowned endoscopy reprocessing researcher, Cori Ofstead, will be delivering a lecture describing findings from recent reprocessing studies, including one that demonstrated residual debris and damage in all inspected endoscopes. Additionally, she will discuss risks of cross-contamination and patient infections related to use of contaminated endoscopes, evidence that residual contamination on scopes is a common occurrence, use of rapid cleaning verification tests to identify residual contamination, enhanced inspection needs, and culturing of endoscopes.

There will also be a hands-on segment of the workshop in which instructors will lead the group and demonstrate proper reprocessing steps, including transport, cleaning, leak testing, disinfection, storage, and quality assurance testing for endoscopes.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask additional questions and gather resources from industry experts.

Several Healthmark educators will be on-site serving as instructors at the workshop and answering your questions, including myself, Stephen Kovach and Steven Basile.  We will be joined by other leading experts in the field.

We look forward to seeing all of you there!  As seating is limited, please register for this workshop soon. The session is approved for 3 contact hours of continuing education credits.  Pricing is very reasonable at $89 for IAHCSMM members and $99 for non-members.

Thank you and hope to see you there!
