WEATHERING THE STORM
ISSUE NO. 507
We have experienced a variety of unique storms this winter season. It was only a month ago that an arctic vortex came through giving us days with sub-zero temperatures. A bomb cyclone that began Sunday swept the eastern U.S. with fierce winds leaving 650,000 without power. No matter how many winters I experience in Michigan, I’m always amazed by the kind of storms we have and by the names meteorologists give them. Remembering to wear proper gloves, hats and coats are important to being safe and comfortable every winter.

It is important to protect yourself in the environment you're in and particularly when you are working in the decontam department. Be sure that you wear personal protection equipment (PPE) of high quality that complies with OSHA standards. There are a variety of products, including gloves, face shields, gowns and boots, that can offer you additional protection when working with contaminated instruments and equipment.
