We have been very fortunate in the last few months in Michigan to not have many snow storms. Now that we are heading into the heart of winter, I fear that is about to change. This past weekend, many southern and east coast states were hit with a number of snowstorms. No matter how many winters I experience, I never seem ready for the first bitter cold temperatures of winter. Remembering to wear proper hats, gloves and coats are imperative to being safe and comfortable this winter.
It is important to protect yourself in the environment you're in and particularly when you are working in the decontam department. Be sure that you wear personal protection equipment (PPE) of high quality that complies with OSHA standards. There are a variety of products, including gloves, face shields, gowns and boots, that can offer you additional protection when working with contaminated instruments and equipment.
