Not Compliant |
A list to avoid was the list of the the top five Joint
Commission requirements that were most frequently identified as "not compliant"
for the first half of 2010 for accredited organizations and certified programs.
JCAHO and its other counterparts play such a vital role in auditing the
performance of healthcare organizations. It is mind numbing sometimes to
realize the shear breadth and depth of issues JCAHO, etc. are responsible for
reviewing. The reality is that they can only scan the surface of what an organization
is doing. So when something is cited, it likely is a very serious problem and
needs to be addressed. JCAHO is analogous to the highway patrol officer
searching for speeders with his radar gun. We need to be sure we help JCAHO out
by doing the speed limit. Being up to date with JCAHO guidelines is key. More
important even still is keeping with the spirit of those guidelines.
Sincerely,

Tip of the Week |
Labor Day Weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of
the year. We at Healthmark wish each of you a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. If
you are travelling, please take care and bring yourself and your family back in one piece. One great way to enjoy a successful trip are to use some of the great
free mapping tools available on the Internet. When I was growing up, AAA had the
legendary "Trip Tickets" which included suggested routes, including
routes around highway construction sites. How did they do that without the
Internet!?
At any rate, check out http://maps.google.com/ for
instance, to get the latest real time traffic report, suggested routes, and
identify possible stop-off points during your trip. And remember. like JCAHO,
the Highway Patrol will be out there trying to keep the roadways safe - so try
to be "in compliance" - at least when they are looking :-)
