Have you ever sat down at a restaurant and noticed a smudge on your drinking
glass, giving the appearance that it isn’t clean? What about in your home, while emptying the dishwasher and noticing food caked on the fork in between the tines? Sometimes washing equipment falls short of expectations.
Medical devices, like flexible endoscopes, can be a challenge to clean.
Fortunately there are ways to challenge the cleaning effectiveness of AERs. The FlexiCheck™ kit simulates a flexible endoscope that contains clinically relevant test soils. FlexiCheck™ contains three parts: a poly tube, a stainless-steel lumen that is attached
to the tube, and a test coupon. The coupon is inserted inside the steel lumen and the coupon is soiled with components of blood as well as polysaccharides. These soils represent residues that can remain in a flexible endoscope after clinical use.
The assembled test is then attached to an irrigation port of the AER.
Once the cleaning cycle is finished, both soils should be completely removed from the coupon. If the soil is not completely removed, it may indicate a less than effective cleaning process.
