Baseball season has started and for many of us it marks the time of year that sunny, warm weather is on its way!
I have always loved baseball because of how different it is from other sports. The timing, quickness and precision it takes to hit a small ball with a stick when it's traveling 95 mph has always fascinated me because one small error in any factor of your swing will result in your success or failure.
A small margin of error that becomes the difference between success or failure can be found in many aspects of our daily lives. In terms of cleaning verification, it surrounds you everywhere in sterile processing. Just think about the washer for surgical instruments as an example. If the water pressure is not producing the proper speed or if the water temperature is slightly off, this could result in the instruments not being clean.
Success and failure often comes down to the small things we do in our everyday lives. Having a process in place to routinely test your department's reprocessing equipment will help ensure instruments are properly cleaned.
