Cleaning Advanced Equipment

ISSUE NO. 737

Over the course of history, healthcare equipment has increasingly become more advanced. Innovative technology doesn't stop with the design of the medical device. It seems like the more technical the device, the more of a challenge it is to clean. Often, tools need to be specifically designed in order to properly clean equipment and devices.

A perfect example are flexible endoscopes. There was no ordinary brush that could clean this equipment so something had to be created specifically for it.

One of the more innovative brushes created is the endoscope brush. These brushes have been designed to facilitate cleaning performance while ensuring compatibility with the endoscope channel. These bristle brushes are long enough, small enough and flexible enough to clean the various types of flexible endoscopes.

Brushes are one of the cleaning tools that continue to evolve in the healthcare industry. As new devices are invented, the device reprocessors strive to find the best methods to clean them. Remember the correct brush (e.g., diameter, length) is a great tool in facilitating the proper processing of the item.
