This past weekend was like a Super Bowl weekend for many of us in Michigan.
Every step of the way in the NFL playoffs has been something special to watch that we aren’t used to experiencing as Detroit Lions fans. Unfortunately, their postseason run has come to an end, but we had a lot of fun cheering for them along the way. It seemed
as if everyone had a party in our area for the Lions game this past Sunday. Having the chance to gather with friends and family is always fun no matter which team wins. The only downside of these gatherings during football season is that it's right around
the time that most people have come down with an illness or have been exposed to germs from people who are sick.
Healthcare professionals take every precaution to protect themselves
in contaminated areas and around patients, but what about the other places in healthcare facilities that could be exposed to germs that are often overlooked? According to
Healthcare
Facilities Today, sharing a computer keyboard or even your own phone can be a major source of germ transmission. Furthermore,
a study published on the
National Library of Medicine website has determined that the overall prevalence of mobile phone contamination was 79%.
The good news is that there are microfiber cloths and disinfectants can
help keep electronic devices germ free. Protective covers on your phone, tablets and keyboards are also a great way to help prevent cross contamination. They help decrease the amount of germs that are transmitted on personal and work devices that you are sharing.
Be sure that you are protecting yourself and have a wonderful, healthy
year!
